Fr. Lawrence Paz, DSPNSDA Rector and Parish Priest, as he delivered Homilies on Sunday Mass.

Today is just an ordinary day for the people of San Mateo, going on with their daily tasks and errands in this little town of Rizal. However, the 15th of June has always been something special for Father Lawrence Paz, known by many as the jolly Father Larry.

Father Larry’s day of birth falls on June 15. He turns 55 this year. Of his 55 years of existence, he has spent five on being our humble parish priest at the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Nuestra Senora De Aranzazu here in our own town. His arrival in San Mateo was dated last June 18, 2012, just three days after his centennial birthday. Father Larry was the former parish priest of the Holy Family Parish in the neighboring city in Parang, Marikina. He was a Thomasian graduate from the Faculty of Theology at the University of Santo Tomas, major in Pastoral Theology. He studied Philosophy at Our Lady of the Angels seminary over in Quezon City. Father Larry has been a priest for about 25 years.

Let us all offer a prayer to our beloved parish priest on his special day. If you happen to be on the church today or you’re active on social media, don’t forget to greet Father Larry! You can even bring him some of his favorite sweets, which he often mentions in his homilies. Here’s to hoping he’ll have a great birthday. (Kristine Tuting)
