Summer is done and vacation is over but the students of Tanghalang Aranzazu Schooling Program had its last hooray before school officially kicks off.
Last June 9 and 10, the freshmen of TA aired their laboratory play, which is their last requirement to finish the program and a culmination of their two month long process of classroom lectures and rehearsals. The shows ran twice a day during the week’s end in the Parish Hall, making the venue a make shift theater house. Entitled “Multo Man May Feelings Din”, is a horror-comedy play written and directed by Tanghalang Aranzazu’s finest talents, Bro. Jerson Rey Guiwa and Bro. Maren Kyle Loreño, respectively. The play is about four lost souls finding out where they are and why are they still there. The story goes on with the characters sharing their own stories of life, love and how they died. This story of life after life has caught the attention of the audience in a comical perspective that gave it a lighter approach on death. But more than the story, the “schoolers” who portrayed the characters did great story telling and showed great potential as actors. Furthermore, the production team didn’t just sit and idle because they displayed one of the best technical designs in a TA stage. The lights, sounds and stage effects are masterfully designed to feel the horrifically comedy ambiance of the play.
After the show, the schoolers – all 19 of them, graduated the schooling program with high colors. This year’s all Aranzan batch of the program is a great addition to the still growing, talented-rich cast of Tanghalang Aranzazu. Clearly, the future looks good for the organization and its audience.
The Tanghalang Aranzazu Schooling Program has ever continued to produce on and off-stage talents and serve as a stepping stone for the youth to be part of the growing community of church servers. It also serves as an avenue for long time church servers to share their wisdom and experiences and help plant the seeds that will someday be the trees that will become the foundation of the organization and of the community.
