John 20:29 29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Among the twelve Apostles of Jesus, Thomas is known for his little faith towards our Lord. The phrase “doubting Thomas” dates back to the time of Jesus’s resurrection, when Thomas, upon seeing that the Lord has risen, confirmed Jesus’s presence by touching a part of his body.

There have been a lot of times in my life that I have become my own doubting Thomas. Often I find myself getting lost in overthinking about the decisions I have made in my life, about the people that I chose to be dependent on, about the trust that I give to Him regarding my future. Sometimes I would question the path that I am taking with my life, if I am going in the right path that He has planned for me. Did I make the right thing? What will become of me in four or five years?

I know the answers to all of these questions will not come overnight. It may take weeks, months, years… Who knows? But as stated in the Bible verse at the start of this article… “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” We have to put up with the blind spots of our life and just put our trust in Him, because I know that He knows what is good for us through His plans.

Reflection: Just like Thomas, we all have moments in our life when we become full of uncertainties. “To see is to believe,” as the popular saying goes. However, it is better to have faith — be brave, take the risk, and believe. St. Thomas the Apostle, pray for us! (Kristine Tuting)
