Our Lady during her preparation for a procession last Fiesta 2016. Christian Angel
“Sa sakit ng kabiglaanan
At sa lagnat na masasal
Kung sa iyo’y manawagan
Gumagaling kapagkuwan
At ‘pag totoong kasakitan
Totoo mong pinaparam”
These passages are taken from one of the stanzas of “Dalit sa Mahal na Birhen ng Aranzazu” which is habitually recited or sung in the Novena prayer of Our Lady of Aranzazu. The Dalit was taken from the old novena version of Our Lady which contains and narrates the rich history from her apparition in Spain, her attributes, and how the Virgin protected her people and upkeep the whole town of San Mateo during the Spanish era and up until in the present day.
Thousand stories of thanksgiving letters and testimonies were submitted at the Oratorio dela Virgen de Aranzazu. The submitted letters of thanksgiving and supplication are frequently examined by the Association of Our Lady of Aranzazu (Cofradia) and gathers all the said papers for documentation.
A parishioner now a devotee of Our Lady of Aranzazu wrote her thanksgiving prayer to Our Lady last 2015, after they experienced the intercessory power of the Virgin of SanMateo:
“It was evening of September 13, 2014 when I got an overseas Call from Singapore that my sister BERNICE SHALIMAR M. QUIAMBAO, will undergo an emergency Brain Surgery Craniotomy in the NATIONAL UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL of Singapore. After a week of elevated blood pressure, the CT scan & angiogram showed that there are 2 aneurysms on her head. This gave us a big scare because we lost a lot of relatives to aneurysm. Both our parents and their siblings died of aneurysm.
Before I could even book the first flight from Manila to Singapore, I already uttered a prayer to our dearest Nuestra Senora de Aranzazu to please pray with us that my sister will survive this very delicate surgery & that she guides the doctor while in surgery. We began our text brigades to all relatives & friends to pray for her too.
Growing up in San Mateo, our family is so familiar with the parish church & its Lady patron, who has been answering most of our petitions ever since. While we are in Singapore watching over my sister’s condition, daily masses, novenas & visits were said in the NSDA Parish church (Nuestra Senora de Aranzazu Parish), sponsored by all our friends & relatives for BERNICE’s safe surgery & fast recovery. It was like everyone was banging the gates of heaven with petitions & prayers, through the Lady Aranzazu’s help and intercession.
Bernice has undergone 2 craniotomy surgeries within an interval of 13 days. We asked for a miracle twice. And we got it. She said (Bernice), she was holding the rosary in the operating table, and she went into a deep & relaxed sleep at the lap of Jesus, while Jesus held her hand throughout the surgery. Jesus heard our cry & we claim that it was Mother Mary in the person of the Lady of Aranzazu who asked her son for this miracle. Our sister Bernice’s surgery was successful & her recovery was very swift. According to all her Singaporean doctors, she is a lucky person, loved by God.
Today she is up & about. She went back to work in January 2015, but prior to that, she already traveled with us in November to Korea & to the Philippines. A true testimony of complete healing & recovery. We make it a point to visit NSDA church, every chance we get even if we no longer reside in San Mateo, Rizal. Nuestra Senora de Aranzazu, Thank you very much for your help.”
Mrs. Diomano together with other devotees of Our Lady of Aranzazu was invited by the Radio Veritas studio last September 2016 to share their healing stories to serve as an inspiration for all the hopeless and sick people. The Dalit sa Mahal na Birhen ng Aranzazu attests that Our Lady of Aranzazu performs countless of miracles for her beloved children for almost three centuries. This miracle story is only one, out of four thousand recorded miracles of the Virgin of Aranzazu. (Christian Robles)
