“And she speaks out with a loud voice, and said, blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.” (Luke 1:42)
Everyone is born with a mother that is one of the main reasons of our existence in the world we live in. Some may not be blessed to be with his or her biological mother but eventually there would be someone who’ll stand in the way and serve as a motherly figure to give guidance with sincerity. A mother would do anything for the sake of her family even if it involves selfless love that is stated in the famous Filipino quote, “Kakainin na nga lang, isusubo pa sa anak.”
I remember when I my sister was still an infant back then she got sick that she would cry all throughout the day and it worried my mom. Our mom would do anything just to ease the pain but my sister wouldn’t get any better. My sister’s expression of pain tormented our mom that she cried as well that she couldn’t help my sister with the pain and then we decided to bring her to the hospital. In this event in our lif, I could really feel my mother’s care and love for us that when we are hurt, she could feel it twice as we do.
The particular experience I have encountered greatly pictures the love of a mother to her family and this could be related to our Mother Mary’s pain when she saw her own son Jesus suffering and crucified on the cross. It could maybe be the worst for a mother to see her own son or daughter suffering in front of her own eyes.
Reflection: “A mother’s love is unconditional, selfless and a treasure for a life time because we would only have one irreplaceable mother.”
The solemnity of the assumption of Mary is being celebrated today by the Catholics all around the world. May we value the lessons that Mary wanted all of us to inculcate in our daily life that we may be blessed through her intercession. Mary Mother of God, pray for us! (Mariele Aquino)
