Jesus came to serve his people by death and resurrection and God the Father. Mary, mother of Jesus, likewise answered the call from God to serve.

When angel Gabriel was sent to Nazareth to tell Mary she has found favor with God and would bear a son, Mary’s great response to St. Gabriel was her “Yes”  of humility and perfect submission to God’s will. “I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.”

Mary was one of many who have answered God’s call as it says in the Responsorial Psalm (Psalm 40:7-11).

“Tinatawag tayo ni Maria na magmalasakit sa bawat isa” was the provided theme in the beginning of the 4th novena devoted to Our Lady of Aranzazu. Throughout the Bible and history, we have been seen servanthood as an opportunity for God’s kingdom to come to earth.

Last Sunday, September 3 the parish provided a medical mission network held at the Parish hall with more than a hundred of patients and families seek for treatment requests and were given free medical and dental service and free prescription supplements during the activity.

The medical missiom was supported by the ministry of Social Service, headed by Ms. Cecil Inocillo. Doctors, dentists, nurses and other people from the community were also able to volunteer for the said event.

Services such as medical consultations, checkup, and minor surgery including tooth extraction, filling and cleaning were given to patients mostly residents’ with most pressing health needs.

Mary responded with her life to the call from God to serve. We also are called by God, to be obedient, to have his commandments within our hearts, to make action in his will and to tell his faithfulness and grace.(Michaela Acilo)
