San Mateo, Rizal—The church was filled with devotees as Rev. Fr. Lawrence C. Paz presided the mass in line with celebration of Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu’s feast last September 9, 2017

The homily focused on the two sins usually committed by humans: pride and disobedience. These sins are because of absence of humility and obedience in our hearts. A concrete example would be Adam and Eve who disobeyed the Lord’s instruction. When every responds to God’s commandment, everything will be alright. Holding an apple, Mary portrays the new image of Eve. Mary gave up his womb as a sign of humility and obedience to God.

It is also said that humans are too boastful where in every success we obtain, we become big-headed. We do not realize that behind those success, God is within us.

No one dies unless God allows a man his death. If you die, then God has better plans for you souls. Everything here in this world is created by God. Hence, we need to follow Him and do not oppose Him.

Before the mass was ended, Fr. Larry and Bro. Arnel Yango awarded the certificate of participation to the participants and certificate of recognition to the winners of live painting contest. In the junior category, Loissiana Isabel Guillema bagged the first place and in advanced category, Patrick Gabriel Jose won the competition respectively.

After the awarding of live painting contest winners, plaque of appreciation was given to the hardworking servers of the parish. They are the Rector’s Awardee; the Outstanding Servant.

The mass was ended with a song of praise to Our Lady of Aranzazu. And after the Mass, a simple reception was prepared to celebrate the feast of OLAR. Viva La Virgen! (Lester de Castro)
