SAN MATEO, Rizal – Rev. Fr. Larry Paz, Shrine Rector of Our Lady of Aranzazu Parish (DSPNSDA), recalls the importance of forgiveness as he gave his homily last Sept 17, 2017 Gospel also from that day. He gave insights that “justice is not being served here at Earth.” but ‘it is our God in Heaven” that shall serve according to His Mercy.

Fr. Larry calls the faithful to intensify prayers to ask God for forgiveness.

Meanwhile, Antipolo Bishop Francis De Leon issues a letter addressed to every parish in the Diocese in accordance with the pastoral letter of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) that reiterates the call of the Church to stop the killings.

The letter reads, “In the name of God, stop the Killings! May the justice of God come upon those responsible for the killings! For the good of the country, stop the killings! The toll of “murders under investigation” must stop now.” Along with these calls, the bishops invite all the faithful to light a candle, offer prayers, pray the rosary and receive Holy Communion as an offering to the souls of the victims from September 23 to November 1, and to support the orphaned children or families of these victims. CBCP also calls to include those who have been killed in the on-going war in Marawi City.

According to the letter, it is also high time to restore the ancient pious tradition of De Profundis or the tolling of church bells at 8:00 pm in a forty-day period (September 23 – November 1, 2017).

Thus, in his letter issued on September 13, 2017, Bishop Francis instructed all the parish priests in Antipolo to toll or ring the church bells accordingly.

Fr. Larry reiterated on all of his masses last Sunday:  “Please be advised that from September 23 to November 1, bells will be tolled or rang for five (5) minutes at 8 p.m. to call on everyone to remember the victims of recent killings and pray for them.”  Atom Y. w/ reports from dioceseofantipolo.org
