A common Filipino Christmas tradition is the Misa de Gallo or Simbang Gabi. This is where people attend the mass during early morning. The mass usually starts as early as 4 in the morning.
Here are the Simbang Gabi schedules in chapels under the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Aranzazu:
The first anticipated mass will start tonight, December 15, 2017 until December 23, 2017. The mass will start at 7:30 PM.
On the other hand, the Misa de Gallo will be on the mornings of December 16, 2017 until December 24, 2017. Nine Misa de Gallos will be at 4:00 AM.
Different chapels will also have the anticipated Simbang Gabi mass from December 15 to December 23 . These chapels are as follows:
– Guitnangbayan 1
- Villa 1
- Abuab
- Patiis
- Limazon
- Riza
The masses on the aforementioned chapels will start at 7:00PM.
Following the same dates, other chapels will start the anticipated mass at 8:30PM. These are:
– Dulongbayan 1
- Divine Mercy
- Lamar
- Guitnangbayan 2
- Bankers
- Easterview
The Christmas Eve mass will be celebrated on December 24, 2017 at 7:30 PM, while the New Year’s Eve mass will be on December 31, 2017 at 7:00 PM.
On Christmas day and New Year’s day, the masses will follow the regular Sunday schedule.
Although we have established the tradition of completing the nine masses of Simbang Gabi with the faith that our wishes will come true, may we not forget the real meaning of attending the mass not just on the holidays but also during ordinary days.
