MANILA – Christians around the world are celebrating the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord today. It is celebrated 12 days after Christmas. This day is also called “Three Kings” as we remember the visit of wise men to Jesus during his birth. Today also marks the end of the Christmas Season. In line with the said church celebration, devotees and parishioners of the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Nuestra Senora de Aranzazu received blessed chalk, salt and holy water. Along with the blessed things are two pieces of papers where the prayer is printed.

This is how to use them: It is suggested to bless the home and do the prayer with the whole family.

1. Say the prayer as instructed.

2. Before entering the house, write the combination: 20+C+M+B+18 on your door.

3. While entering the house, sprinkle the holy water around and write the combination in all entrances of the house. In the bedroom, garage and the rest of the part of the house.

The numbers 20 and 18 symbolize the current year while the characters C, M and B stand for the names of the wise men, Caspar, Melchor and Baltazar when they journeyed to Betlehem. It also means “Christus Mansionem Benedicat” or “may the Lord bless this home.” The blessed salt may also be scattered around the house or inside the car. This is to keep the bad spirits away which can be in a form of sickness, sadness, fights, and any negativities in life. Camille Cabal / MPIM EIC
