SAN MATEO, Rizal – Several priests from Diocese of Antipolo attended the requiem mass in honor of late Rev. Fr. Larry Paz presided by Bishop Francisco de Leon last Monday morning, February 12.

The immediate family of Fr. Larry was also present in the mass while numerous parishioners who wanted to have a last glance on the late parish priest filled the church.

Fr. Marc Ramos, an ordained priest who grew up as a church server in Aranzazu parish and one of the closest to Fr. Larry, did the homily. Fr. Marc admitted that he admires Fr. Larry’s way of preaching. He even reminisced the late priest’s teachings about life. “Memento mori, remember man that you have to die,” a Latin phrase that Fr. Larry kept on mentioning in his homilies. Fr. Marc also shared that Fr. Larry has a small skull in his room that kept on reminding him that everything will come to an end.

During the homily, Fr. Marc also remembered Fr. Larry’s humble acts and efforts that showed his love for the church and for the people. He reminded the mass attendees what Fr. Larry kept on reminding everyone, do not pray for a long or happy life but pray for a meaningful life saying “higit na mabuti ang maikling buhay ngunit puno ng kabuluhan.”

Before ending the homily, Fr. Marc mentioned Fr. Larry’s words “Satisfied at 55,” saying that he is already happy and satisfied with the life that he had on earth.

Mayor Cristina “Tina” Diaz also gave her last honors to Fr. Larry by attending and offering during the mass. Fr. Larry’s remains were transferred to San Miguel, Manila today.

Information on whether the family will still allow the viewing of his remains or keep it private is yet to be announced. Camille Cabal
