SAN MATEO, Rizal – Parish officers and staff closest to late Rev. Fr. Lawrence “Larry” Paz said their eulogies during the Necrological Services done in honor of him last Sunday night, February 11.
Sis. Raquel Ortega, a former Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) officer reminisced how Fr. Larry has chosen her to be one of the PPC officers during his time. “Nagbibigay siya ng pagkakataon sa mga lector na makapaglingkod sa simpleng paraan.” Sis. Raquel said while sharing her experiences as a Lector with Fr. Larry.
Sis. Sol Buenafe, a former PPC president, also shared her impressions with the late parish priest whom she said to have shown “humility” during the time when he kissed the ground during his first arrival at the parish as the new parish priest. Talking about him as a preacher, Sis. Sol said that “we get inspirations from all his homilies.”
The head of Media and Public Information Ministry (MPIM), Bro. Arnel Yango tried to make the moment a bit less lonely when he said he wished Fr. Larry was just performing and will suddenly get up and surprise everyone. He also mentioned how Fr. Larry convinced him to head Media Ministry and how optimist the late parish priest was from where he learned to be brave and positive in every project. Ending his eulogy, Bro. Arnel said, “Salamat padre sa di malilimutang performance mo dito sa lupa.”
Bro Frank Faildon, also a former PPC president proved what kind of leader Fr. Larry was when he mentioned how he advised him to be more patient on his co-workers in the parish. He added, “Nakita natin kung paano nya binigay ang kanyang pagmamahal sa ating parokya at sa bayang San Mateo.”
Remembering how Fr. Larry strengthened the faith of the people of San Mateo; Bro. Dani Villanueva, the current PPC president said; “masasabi kong si Fr. Larry ang image ng new evangelization;” for his different ways of cathing the attention of mass goers in his homilies.
Selected parish workers offered songs after each eulogies. The Necrological service ended with a short prayer.
