SAN MATEO, Rizal – The Bishop of Antipolo, Francisco de Leon has appointed last February 12, 2018, Rev. Msgr. Generoso A. Mediarito as parochial administrator of the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu. Msgr. Mediarito is the current Parish Priest of Immaculate Conception Parish, Marikina City.
The Bishop made this announcement during the Requiem Mass for Fr. Lawrence Paz this morning together with the Antipolo Clergy concelebrating with him.
The Canon Law provides that in the case of vacancy in the Office of the Parish Priest, the local Ordinary is to designate as soon as possible a parochial administrator, that is, a priest who takes place of the pastor in the reason of ill health or death. (Can. 539) Moreover, “a parochial administrator is bound by the same duties and possesses the same rights as a pastor” after which when he finishes his function, he renders an account to the incoming Parish Priest. (Can. 540 §1,3)
The announcement of the appointment of the new Parish Priest and Rector of Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Aranzazu shall be made within the next coming days.
