BEYOND SIMPLE THOUGHTS

Sunday Gospel Reflections

This lent. Pause a while. Think why God and science is an excellent combination and not a contradiction.

Ngayong Sabado de Gloria, upang ma-appreciate ang ginawa ni Hesus para sa atin, kailangan nating umayos at tanggapin that God do exists, is concerned about us and sent a Saviour to save us. Do not let science plant the seed of doubt in your heart, instead, use it t to strengthen your faith in God, our Creator

I read an article of a man giving examples of orderliness and creation in trying to explain the existence of a creator. He was trying to prove in the simplest sense that there is someone behind all marvelous things that exist. To make himself better understood, he cited an example: a book that was carefully handcrafted. Of course, in the process of producing a book, it passed thru encoding, printing, folding, trimming, and binding to become the beautiful book that it is. He actually made clear his point. It is understandable that a book could not instantly appear as it is without someone preparing it. And this is also the same with everything that exist in the universe.

The more science discovers the mysteries and marvels hidden in every little thing, the more it unfolds the creativity of the one who designed it – and it is the God of all creation.

The spark of creation is actually continuous. It did not stop on the seventh day. God is continuously creating things and giving life. Millions of lives emerge every second, from men, animals, fishes, bacteria to cells that make up living things.

In reality, the brains of men behind science need an eternity to discover and uncover all its mysteries. All that men can do is to use science to explain theories and facts and produce something new from that which already exists. No matter how complicated, everything is dependent on God’s creative design.

I was thinking about it over and over again. It made me wonder in amazement, thinking that if God could have wanted, He can alter how relativity works. He can change everything in just a blink of an eye, just as how an egg solidifies over heat and undergo chemical change and ice as it melts and undergo physical change. With God, nothing is impossible even to the point of making us breathe-in carbon dioxide and breathe-out oxygen and still live fully reversing everything explained by science. I just smiled and said to myself, it would be fun frying fish using water replacing fire and inhaling carbon dioxide instead of oxygen without dying. All dependent on how God would have wanted it to work even if science would claim it impossible. All defying science, no limitations, no restrictions, just pure creations of the magnificent One.

It is so sad that the world today, as it explores, discovers and creates, is confined with only what their limited thinking could grasp and is rapidly destroying itself and the harmony and balance that God has created in everything that exists.

Sabi nga ni Fr. Larry, umayos tayo! Unless we accept God’s supreme authority and bow down to Him as our Lord and Creator, we will remain confined within the nature Adam and Eve, and the fallen angels have, proud and ambitious. Man, as he had been, always had the tendency to aspire being a god. Trace back the history and you could see the pattern. And with this mindset, history will always repeat itself. The snake has been very diligent and wise in doing his homework and mission, to destroy man and separate him from God. And because he has very little time, he has been exerting every effort to fool men by trying to manipulate men’s freedom to choose science over God. We fail to recognize na naloloko tayo ng kalaban. He is trying to make us believe that we have the luxury of time but actually we do not. Nobody holds the future. Fr. Larry always says, “Life is short and death is certain.”

Do not misinterpret the saving power of God. Do not put to waste the significance of this day, the day Jesus died for us, men. Do not let science and the modern times twist your mind towards the existence of a Creator. In the end, God will prove Himself mightier and will reign forever and ever. After all, He is God, all powerful and ever living, and the Master of all creation.

 Black Saturday Challenge:

Umaayos ka ba today?

If not, stop and pause a while, even for just a moment.  Spend a few minutes looking around. Be fascinated by the works of the Almighty… from the sand, stones, mountains, rivers, skies, stars, sun and the whole of the universe.  Feel the warmth of life in everything that lives, the ants, fishes, cockroaches, millipedes, butterflies, dogs, cats and the like… Enjoy time with your babies, your sons, your daughters, your parents, your friends, your church and your community… And say THANK YOU, LORD.
