Pope Francis grants Mary Help of Christians a Canonical Coronation

The official Facebook page of Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan announced last April 19 that the Holy Father Pope Francis has bestowed the papal honor of Canonical Coronation on the image of Maria, Auxiliadora de Los Cristianos of Pangasinan.
The image is enthroned inside the Mary Help of Christians Seminary at Palapad, San Fabian, Pangasinan. It is considered as the first Theology seminary in the province, and second in Northern Luzon.
Meanwhile, the rites of the coronation is set on August 22, 2018 at the Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist, Dagupan City. She will be the second Coronada in the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan, next to Nuestra Señora del Santísimo Rosario de Manaoag of Manaoag, Pangasinan which was Canonically crowned in 1926 by the authority of Pope Pius XI.

Lingayen-Dagupan

At the request of the Most Excellent Lord Socrates B. Villegas, the Archbishop of Lingayen-Dagupan, with this letter given on the first day of the month of January 2018, by virtue of the power of the faculties peculiarly granted by the Supreme Pontiff Francis to this Congregation, We very willingly grant that the popular statue of the Blessed Virgin together with the figure of the Holy Infant Our Lord Jesus Christ venerated under the title of Mary Help of Christians at the seminary of the archdiocese in the town of San Fabian, Pangasinan, under the name and authority of the same Holy Pontiff, the Mary Help of Christians may be crowned with the precious diadems.

Notwithstanding anything to the contrary.
