Parish Youth Ministry (PYM) of Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Nuestra Senora de Aranzazu (DSPNSDA) gathered the youth from the different ministries and organizations in the parish for the Summer Friendship Games (SFG) 2018 with a theme: “Kabataan ng Aranzazu: Stay Fit in the Faith,” last April 27-28.
Prior to the activity, pre-registered participants were called for a general assembly and were randomly divided into four teams, each representing the congregations of the church – Blue Rogationists, Green Canossians, Red Augustinians, and Yellow Redemptorists.
Rev. Fr. Bembol Hiteroza officially started the two-day event with his opening remarks which was followed by the opening performance of the team leaders, muses and selected youth from each team. Before the event proper, participants recited the oath of sportsmanship and proceeded to each team’s presentation of muse, singing of chants and waving of banners.
A combination of modern and traditional games of different kinds such as ball games, board games and teambuilding activities were introduced to the participants who claimed to have enjoyed the
games. Kenneth Bajao, a youth from the Ministry of Altar Servers (MOAS) and one of the leaders of the Yellow Redemptorist said that the fun and excitement were evident in each of the Aranzazu youth who joined the event and played the variety of games.
The second day of the event was held in St. Matthew College where ball games were played in simultaneous with the card games. The awarding happened on the last day where the Blue Rogationists triumphed as the overall champion. Runner-ups, Best Yell, Mr. and Ms. SFG 2018 and Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards for the ball games and other special awards were also given.
