Barangay Official and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) have been busy campaigning and informing the citizens about their platforms and programs for the community but before the campaign period has officially started, candidates of Barangay and SK Officials together with Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) Coordinators, and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) participated the Peace Covenant Signing organized by the Philipline National Police (PNP) San Mateo.
Every election, Peace Covenant Signing, as the name itself states, aims for a Secured and Fair Election (SAFE).
A mass presided by Rev. Fr. Edwin Tirado, was held where the contenders for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Election were prayed over and blessed by the officiating priest. A short program was conducted as the guests were introduced. Afterwards, the candidates for Barangay Captain signed the Covenant of SAFE 2018.
Indicated in the Covenant of SAFE 2018, that the candidate for various positions signify their agreement to the rules and regulations. That, they “will recognize the truth that exercise of the right of suffrage is a solemn act of sovereignty, and the ballot, being an expression of sovereign well, is sacred. ”
That, they “shall not personally or through tour supporters, directly or indirectly, corrupt any voter with money; nor impose our will upon him, by way of force or violence, threat or intimidation, or in any manner, impair his power and freedom of choice.”
As what a famous quote says, “Your vote is your voice; be heard.” On May 14, everyone is called to be a responsible voter and vote for the righteous one.
