Five years ago, I lost a very important person in my life. She has been my best friend, my sister, my biggest supporter, my inspiration and most especially, my MOTHER. Words are not enough to describe how grateful I am to be her daughter. Ever since I was young, my mother has been there to provide us with the basic necessities of life. I really admire how she was able to serve as a mother and at the same time as a father to me and my three younger siblings. She raised us to become a good person and showered us with her unconditional love. Whenever we were having a hard time, my mother was ready to extend her shoulders to lean on and comfort us by saying that everything will be alright. Despite all the hardships we went through, she never gave up and instead, she chose to stand firm and to be strong for us, her children.
My mother is my biggest supporter; for everything that we do, she has always been there to support and remind us that no matter what happens, whether we succeed or not, she will always be there to cheer for us. During our birthdays, my mother was there to celebrate our special day with her and my siblings. I can’t seem to forget the words she wrote on the last birthday greeting card I received from her, it was during my 16th birthday. “As long as nabubuhay si Mama, I will do everything for you and your siblings.” These words struck my heart as I realized how deep the love my mother has for us. Even though she was experiencing a lot of pain, we, her children, were the first thing she thought about. She was worried about what might happen to us from the time she was gone in this world. The last words of my mother has been my motivation to give my very best in everything that I do. I want to show her that although she’s not here anymore, we, her children, are doing fine and working hard to achieve our goals in life.
It is truly amazing how a mother would do anything for her children. It seems that even if we grow older, we will always be the most precious treasure in the eyes of our mothers. To my mother, who has also been the greatest gift I received from heaven, Happy Mother’s Day! I just want you to know that I’m really grateful to you for giving birth to me and my siblings. Without you, we would not be where we are today. I wish I had more time to express how thankful I am for you. I was really looking forward in spending unforgettable memories with you, Mama. In a short time, you were able to show me how great a mother’s love can be. No one can ever replace you. Even if it hurts, I know I have to finally accept that you are not here with us anymore, that you are now in a better place. I miss you every single day, Mama! You will always be in our hearts. Thank you and we love you so much, Mama! (Angela B. Villegas)
