Members of the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu’s (DSPNSDA) Ministry of Lectors renewed their vows along with the celebration of the Pentecost Sunday yesterday, May 20.

DSPNSDA’s parish priest, Fr. Bembol Hiteroza, presided the English mass where he blessed and reinstalled more or less than a hundred members of the said ministry.

In his homily, Fr Bembol reminded the lectors to recall the value of their mission that they are not there for fame but because they responded to the mission that the Lord has called them for.

Sis. Joy San Pedro Fandialan, head of the Ministry of Lectors, said that a lector should deliver the words of God with clarity and dignity so the parishioners can learn something from it.

“Sa homily ni Fr. Bembol, sinabi niya na ang mga lectors should have the right attitude. Dapat ay isinasabuhay namin ang mga salita na aming ipinapahayag. This is the very important essence of being a good lector, katulad ng mga apostles na mga unang nagpahayag ng mabuting balita.” Sis Joy emphasized.

Sis. Joy also expressed her pride for her members who chose to be reinstalled in the ministry in spite of her imperfections as a leader but she said that their service should not be directed to the priests nor to their ministry head but to the Lord. “…as long as the members have faith, commitment, obedience and joy in this ministry, hindi mauubusan ng lektor ang NSDA.”
