SAN MATEO, Rizal – The Parish Youth Ministry held its 12th Solar Youth Day: Fearless with a theme, “Do not be afraid Mary, for you have found favour with God.” (Luke 1:30) at the gymnasium of the Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu Parochial School (NSDAPS) last Saturday, July 14.
Members from parish organizations and ministries and students from different schools within San Mateo were the attendees of the event who participated various activities prepared by the PYM. Upon entering the gymnasium, booths prepared by different parish organizations can be seen, decorated as what their organization represents. Also, each has a representative dressed as a saint they were assigned to portray. Prior to the event, the organizations also participated in the poster-making contest, which were posted in PYM’s Facebook Page.
Solar Youth Day (SYD) 2018 started with a doxology care of Animators Club followed by the opening remarks from the Youth Spiritual Director and Parochial Vicar, Rev. Fr, Edwin Tirado and Parish Pastoral Council President (PPC) , Bro. Danny Boy Villanueva. Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Bembol Hiteroza also gave a plenary talk about this year’s theme.
The participants were given the time to visit all the booths and register to the organization or ministry they want to be part of. Each booth had a come-on activity and freebies for the participants who were eager to complete all the stamps from all the booths to receive a special prize.
Before the most-awaited praise fest, the outstanding ministries/organizations for each category were given recognition. Legion of Mary got the award for the best booth while Association of Our Lady of Aranzazu won the best portrayal of a saint. Animators Club’s poster was awarded as the best poster which got the most number of likes and shares.
Everyone’s energy was regained during the praise fest where the participants danced and sang to the music of the band.
