The National Historical Commission of the Philippines represented by its President, Rene R. Escalante unveiled the Historical Marker of the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Nuestra Senora de Aranzazu (DSPNSDA) on Friday morning, August 31.

Antipolo Bishop Most Rev. Francisco M. De Leon D.D. was also part of the ceremony who also blessed the unveiled marker; with him are DSPNSDA Shrine Rector and Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Lopito “Bembol” Hiteroza, San Mateo Mayor Cristina “Tina” Diaz and PPC President, Bro. Dani Villanueva as witnesses.

The Historical Marker tells the origin and milestones of the parish including the Pontifical Coronation of Our Lady of Aranzazu. As requested by Fr. Bembol, Escalante elaborated the parish’s history and read the certificate stating the grant of the Historical Marker to Aranzazu shrine.

During his talk, Escalante said that the Hsitorical Marker may serve as a reminder that the Shrine of Our Lady of Aranzazu is now an integral part of the national history.

Bishop De Leon presided the thanksgiving mass inside the parish following the unveiling ceremony. At the end of the mass, Fr. Bembol expressed his gratitude ­for everyone’s participation in the special event of the parish. He also encouraged everyone to praise and thank the Lord for granting this blessing.

Representatives from the local government and officers of the parish also expressed their happiness and gave their messages regarding the historical event during the pre-program held at the patio.

Foods were also served for the guests and parishioners who witnessed the event.
