In their recent segment, Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho featured Justin Henry, who, as a baby was left at the church. It happened 24 years ago, at the month of October 1993, at Saint Peter and John Parish which is located in Potrero, Malabon. A baby was left in the church while he was inside a shoe box. He was seen by the Parish Priest named Rev. Fr. Enrique Aloysuis Aliño and kept him as his own son. Fr. Aloy named him Justin Henry.

Despite of keeping the truth away from the kid, Justin grew up knowing that Fr. Aloy isn’t his real father. According to Justin, the whole Church treated his adoption as a grand celebration and loved him wholeheartedly.

Sister Claire Dabuet, whom she called Tita Madre, became her acting mother. He loves them but he became hesitant because people might think that Fr. Aloy and Tita Madre are his biological parents.

People questioned his relationship with Fr. Aloy and to stop the painful words being thrown at them, he left the Church.Justin is just like the Prodigal Son in the gospel of Luke 15:11-32 because after leaving the church, he found himself running back and Fr. Aloy hugged him and forgave him, letting Justin feel that everything is fine and what’s important is he’s back, safe and sound.

Last 2015, Fr. Aloy had a heart attack which caused his death. At that point, Justin questioned his purpose in life.“I questioned God, I cursed him. Hindi ako pumupunta sa simbahan. Nadepressed ako, parang I want to end it.” After all, Justin regained His faith to God. He was grateful that despite the challenges that He went through in life, Justin found a family in the church who looked after and loved him as if he was their own child.

Just like the Prodigal Son, we might drift away from God but we will find ourselves running back to Him. God might give us a lot of challenges but we should remember that God’s plan is always the best plan.

May we reflect on Justin’s story and learn to always be grateful with the blessings that God has given us. Let us pray for Justin that God may guide him and give him strength as he searches for his biological parents. Let us remember that whoever our parents are, whoever is looking after us right now, we are all children of God and He will never forsake us. (Jazlene Jimenez)
