SAN MATEO, Rizal — The Municipal Fire Department responded last November 4, 2018 at 7:45 PM to a fire at Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Aranzazu where the neon light glass tube of the cross on the roof of its belfry was found to be engulfed in flames. The fire was extinguished as of 8:05 PM.
Parishioners attending the mass at the time of the incident were asked to remain calm and to exit through the designated doors to ensure their safety.
The cause and origin of the fire remains undetermined as investigators from the Municipal Fire Department, in coordination with the Parish Office, continue their scene examination. One angle closely looked upon is an electrical device malfunction. Fortunately, there were no reported injured civilians and firefighters. ###
