Marian devotees pull carozzas carrying the various images of the Blessed Virgin Mary during the annual Grand Marian Procession.

Grand Marian Procession, popularly coined as GMP, is an event celebrated by people that features the different images of Mary. It has been part of the annual tradition of the parishioners in the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu.

Marian images were gathered at the patio at around 6 in the evening where the procession started. It then passed through the streets of Ampid and Dulong Bayan and back to the parish where marian images are then blessed.

The Grand Marian Procession is not only celebrated here in San Mateo but in many other places in the country as well. The GMP is a special day dedicated only for Mary as it celebrates Mary, Immaculate Concepcion, Our Lady Of Fatima, Nuestra Señora De Guadalupe De Cebu and all the marians not mentioned.

I was also part of the procession, yes the procession might take long but it is a way for us to get closer to Mary while praying the rosary can be the best weapon against temptations and sins. Combining these two only proves nothing but our faith and love to Mary, the mother of God.
