Marian images from all over the country will gather again for the 39th Grand Marian Procession that will take place on December 2, 4 PM, at the Plaza de Roma of Manila Cathedral in Intramuros, Manila. This is in honor of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, wherein we commemorate the day when Mary was conceived without sin, for she is the chosen one to carry and deliver God’s only begotten Son. She is then called as “blessed among all women.”

Processions has been part of the tradition and culture of different countries all over the world as a way of expressing one’s faith and devotion to such heroes, saints and gods that they patronize. One of the well known and most participated by various dioceses, parishes, and care takers of marian images is the Grand Marian Procession that is annually celebrated in Intramuros. The event is spearheaded and organized by Confradia de la Immaculada Concepcion and the Intramuros Administration. This procession is the largest and grandest of its kind in the country.

Over 90 images of the Blessed Virgin Mary are expected to participate this year including Nuestra Señora de Los Dolores de Turumba from Pakil, Laguna, Virgen Milagrosa del Santissimo Rosario from Orani, Bataan, Nuestra Señora de Visitacion de Piat from Cagayan, Virgen La Divina Pastora from Gapan, Nueva Ecija, and Nuestra Señora dela Consolacion y Correa from San Agustin Church, Intramuros. Our patroness, Our Lady of Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu will also participate in the said procession.

Marian Devotees from all over the country will then again come to unite, spread the love and keep Mary’s spirit holy deep within us. Mary/Maria/Marian, as the Mother of Jesus, and our Mother too, have touched the lives of many for her divine mercy to humanity. And as her children, we too should show unconditional kindness to our brothers and sisters not just when we have a lot to offer, but even though when we almost have nothing to give. For what the saying says, “The more you give, the more you will receive.”
