Were you one of those who watched and supported Catriona Gray in the Miss Universe pageant from the start up to the coronation?
I’m sure you also felt proud when Philippines’ representative impressed the judges on the question and answer portion, and literally jumped out of joy when she finally won the crown as Miss Universe 2018.
While everyone is still on the hype of Catriona’s winning, various fun facts about Miss Universe and other binibinis are surfacing on the internet.
But did you know that the first ever Miss Universe has been to San Mateo, in the Shrine and Parish and Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu to be exact?
Miss Universe 1952, Armi Helena Kuusela of Finland married a Filipino named Virgilio “Gil” Hilario who was then a resident of San Mateo. They married nowhere else but in the Parish of Our Lady of Aranzazu and were blessed with five children namely Arme, Anna-Lisa, Jussi, Eva-Maria and Mikko.
Aside from rejoicing for Catriona Gray’s homecoming, isn’t this something we can be proud of as parishioners of Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Nuestra Senora de Aranzazu?
