“When we have the Holy Spirit, we have all that is needed to be all that God desires us to be.” -Aiden Wilson Tozer
The Catholic Church annually celebrates the Pentecost on the 7th Sunday after Easter, to commemorate the descent of the Holy Spirit to the Apostles and to the Early Christians.
Pentecost is also the ‘birth of the Christian Church’ wherein the mission of the followers of Jesus Christ to spread the good news around the world has began.
The Holy Spirit plays an important role in our life. It seems impossible to go through our journey especially in difficult times without the help of the Holy Spirit. It is the gift that we may not see, we may not touch and we may not hear, but we can feel deep within our hearts. It is our sword against all the trouble and negativity that tries to conquer us. It is our guide to the right path, our lamp when we cannot see the light.
As a modern disciple of Jesus, it is our duty as well to spread His teachings in a variety of ways. It may be difficult for us for some instances, that is why we will ask for strength and wisdom. God’s way of sending His help is through the Holy Spirit that touches our soul, if only we will also let ourselves embrace it.
This Pentecost Sunday, let us reflect on Christ’s love for us, that eventhough He ascended into heaven, His promise that He will always be with us until the end of time has been and will always be fulfilled, through the power of the Holy Spirit.
