Just got married! The 6 newly wedded couples together with Rev. Fr. JD Guillermo.
“Till death do us part,” families and friends witnessed the exchange of wedding vows of six lovely couples in front of the altar for this year’s Kasalang Bayan at the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu.
The Kasalang Bayan was made possible with the help and organization of the Family Life Apostolate together with Rev. Fr. JD Guillermo who headed the sacred ceremony.
Each couple graced down the aisle embellished with flowers towards the altar where they later on exchanged their vows of commitment to a shared life as husband and wife. Fr. JD pointed out during the ceremony that a couple bonded by the sacrament of matrimony should observe the H.H.W.W. or Holding Hands While Walking, since marriage is a journey taken and faced together hand in hand as one family towards God.
Pair by pair, each couple finally did the most awaited exchange of vows followed by the wearing of the wedding rings to their own partners. The partners were later on blessed as they held each other’s hands; arras or wedding coins were also blessed.
As the wedding ceremony finally ended, the newly pronounced husbands and wives had their kisses in front of the altar. A mini celebration followed at the patio where they had their first dance as married couples. Each pair feasted on their own mini two-layered cake and had their own glasses of wines sponsored by the Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu Parochial School. The couples then held and posed with a dove as a sign of peace and prosperity of their married life. Gifts were also given by the local government while wedding souvenirs were provided by the Ministry of Lectors.
Extravagant and luxurious weddings have been a trend recently, but the mere significance of the ceremony is overlooked and more couples hinders themselves from being wedded due to the idea that weddings should be grand and expensive. The Church emphasizes that a simple wedding ceremony founded by the love of two individuals that is Christ-centered posurpasses any grandeur wedding; for it is centered in love and only death do them part. Congratulations to the newly wedded couples!
