Have you ever been to a gig? A place where there are chairs and sometimes there’s none. Of course there’s a stage with musical instruments. It can be in a restaurant, in an event hall or even in a basement, yes in a basement. It doesn’t matter because everyone came for the music.
Around same time last year was my first time to attend a gig and I can say that was the best gig with the most amazing line up. Most singers or bands aren’t popular yet and that’s what make the music more pure and worth it because you know they’re not singing out of fame or for money, you know they are performing from the heart.
Some would go to gigs to destress or to escape from their daily routines. They say music is a good therapy, once the band starts to perform , everyone is hypnotized as if being cradled by the music and lifted up from their current situation.
A year after, I was invited in SYFOF19: A Name Like No Other. I thought “this is something familiar” but later on, I realized it is way better than ordinary gigs I used to attend. In SYFOF 2019, everyone is smiling at you, the surrounding just felt comfortable as if everyone in there is your good friend. Wherever you look, people are shaking their hands, or exchanging hugs, what a peaceful environment.
And then the singing begins, youths are like angels singing from the heaven. Youths on stage are leading the whole theatre, singing and praying to the Lord, inviting the holy spirit to embrace and heal each attendee from their sins, from their anxieties and other negativities. The next thing you know, you are one of the voices calling to the Lord, asking to be renewed.
Everyone in the New Frontier Theatre was just sitting on the ground, it doesn’t matter because everyone came to worship the Lord, be healed and restored.
SYFOF 2019 is the new trend of evangelization, encouraging the youth to praise the lord through fun and engaging ways. This time, late nights no longer mean going home late with hang over and relief that will only last for a day. Instead, everyone left the place feeling way better than they first arrived at the venue. Healed and restored, something they will feel and treasure until the next SYFOF.
Have you ever been to a gig? A gig is a slang for a live musical performance. It is also a short term for engagement. Music is a beautiful escape from the noise of the world while music sang for the Lord is a healing for the wounds of the souls.
What could be more beautiful than singing with people you haven’t met yet but still, all of you gather to praise the one whose name is like no other and that is Jesus. Everything you do, or wherever you do it, as long as it is for Him, it will always be the best. And for me, SYFOF 2019 was my best gig ever!
