SAN MATEO, Rizal – Rev. Fr. Rock Berdos presided the 3rd Novena mass with a theme: “Maria, Bilang Mabuting Kalakbay sa Buhay”. In his homily he mainly talked about and praised Mary’s devotion and commitment she had to God even before she beared Jesus extending even beyond Jesus’ death and ressurection. He said that we should set Mary as a prime model and should always strive to become as a Catholic person.
Fr. Rock also talked about freedom, responsibilities and how we should learn to have “responsible freedom” which means practicing our freedom with the appropriate amount of responsibility. This may also mean that even if we are free, God and Mary’s prayers should continually influence us, through our actions and everyday lives. He also stated that our natural thick-headedness and overall stubborness is what keeps us from seeing the truth. It is our job to help those people who are blinded not just by their thick-headedness but also by love, money, and wrong doings. Mary is our calling to this job, may her prayers guide and help us to respond to this calling.
We should enlighten those who are blinded and help each other discern what’s the right and proper way to God’s will. Each and everyone of us has a role to fulfill and responsibility to act upon on this world, through Mary, as our role model, let us all strive to fulfill God’s expectation on us.
