“God will never permit anything to happen to us that is not for our greater good.”
Saint Pio (Pius) of Pietrelchina was a Capuchin Catholic Priest from Italy , who is venerated as a saint by Pope John Paul II, now St. John Paul II. St. Padre Pio is known as the patron saint of civil defense volunteers, adolescents, and the city of Pietrelcina. St. Padre Pio’s life touched many lives. Up to this day, he still inspires many lives.
5 Things we can Learn from St. Padre Pio:
1. “Pray, hope, and don’t worry. Worry is useless. Our Merciful Lord will listen to your prayer.”
It’s hard not to worry of many things in this time because we always forget to pray to the Lord, and that he will hear us and help us overcome many things.
2. “To doubt is the greatest insult to Divinity.”
We always doubt ourselves in everything that we do, we think that we cannot do enough to accomplish it. For St. Padre Pio, all the things that we do is a part of growing and part of something greater.
3. “You don’t have to be worthy, you only have to be willing.”
This is a difficult reality to swallow because when we are given something that is past our league, we feel unworthy of it, Padre Pio reminds us that we do not need to be good enough to do it we only need to accept the challenge, learn, and grow from it.
4. “God will always give us more than what we deserve.”
In the first sight we think of the saying “Be content on what you have.”, but we never thought that Jesus is behind us, working for us to have a bigger picture in our future.
5. “When we suffer, Jesus is closer to us.”
Thinking that God has left us whenever we are struggling is a common mistake to us, Christians, but in reality, God is close to us. Instead of closing our hearts and mind that God is right beside us and ready to help, we should open it so that he can enter and heal us.
