SAN MATEO, Rizal – The Advent season has officially begun at Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Nuestra Senora de Aranzazu (DSPNSDA) through the lighting of the first candle of the Advent wreath last Sunday, December 1.
Rev. Fr. Gerard Masangya blessed the Advent wreath and presided the 12 noon mass. “Ano ang reaksiyon ninyo sa ebanghelyo ngayon?” Fr. Gerry asked as he opened the Homily. He followed up by saying that some of the mass goers are coming to church every Sunday just to say that they are attending the mass but are not paying attention the word of God.
“Sa mga ordinaryong bagay, naroon ang presensiya ng Panginoon, hindi natin ito napapansin dahil busy tayo.” Fr. Gerry also explained that God can be seen through many things, not just on the great ones but even on the simplest things, sadly, we are too preoccupied with our daily routine to notice His blessings.
“Paghahanda ng ating kalooban, puso, at pagkatao.” He added that we should prepare ourselves for the coming of Christ because he will unexpectedly come sooner or later.
Before he ends his homily, Fr. Gerry mentioned that part of Filipinos preparation for Christmas is going to Divisoria to shop. He jokingly reminded everyone, “Ang friendship ay parang Christmas lights sa Divisoria, hindi mo alam kung ano ang fake sa totoo.”
