The most awaited moment has come. Advent season is coming to an end and Christmas day is just around the corner. This is the time to rejoice and celebrate, for Jesus Christ will arrive.

Celebrating Christmas usually includes family gathering, gift giving, preparing and eating lots of food, and staying awake until midnight to wait for Christmas day. But looking at the opposite side of the coin, some families do not have the chance to gather and celebrate Christmas together. This is where technology comes into the scene.

Some of the family members might went overseas to either stay there for good or work for the sake of their families. Some are on different parts of the country and living their lives separately. With these circumstances, family gatherings could get less frequent over time and be almost impossible.

In the present, technology is a way to make life easier. If it has been effective with a lot of things, it will be effective in bringing families together.

Turn the computers, laptops, or mobile phones on and create group chats, so group video calls can be done during noche buena. Witness the celebration of each and every family member with the use of technology. Hear their Christmas cheer and Christmas greetings, and appreciate their Christmas decorations.

Aside from family, also express your wishes and greetings of a Merry Christmas to friends, acquaintances, and even just random people with the use of social media accounts. Christmas is a season of joy, love and giving, after all.

To top it all, let us not forget how the birth of Jesus Christ is the center of this season. Attend the holy mass and be solemn upon the arrival of Christ. If not, live masses are being conducted by some media ministries in different churches, such as the media ministry of Nuestra Señora de Arazazu Parish. It can be viewed on Aranzazu Parish website or facebook page.

Using technology is a good way to spend the Christmas season, but nothing can surpass the level of Christmas joy when you spend it wholeheartedly with the people you love.

Have a blessed and merry Christmas, everyone! (Jazlene Jimenez)
