There is nothing more beautiful than how a mother looks at her own child. That’s the beauty of praying the rosary, we are seeing the works of Jesus through the eyes of His holy mother and Mary encourages us everyday to pray the rosary to direct us to the life of Jesus. In return, she left us with these promises to those who will faithfully recite the rosary. Here, we will see how Mary kept her promise to everyone who is devoted to the holy rosary.

The Salvation of a Satanic Priest

Bartolo Longo was known as a Satanic Priest after drifting away from his religious upbringing. His family saved him by praying for him and asking him to confess.  Another priest also encouraged him to devote to the holy rosary. His devotion to the holy rosary convinced him to live a life of penance from the sins he committed as the satanic priest. He was inspired by the promises of Mary and also inspired others to pray the rosary. He was able to convince people to also devote to the holy rosary who pledged to build a shrine to honor Our Lady of the Rosary. The rosary entirely changed the life of Bartolo Longo who was eventually beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1980. He called him “the man of the Madonna” and the “Apostle of the Rosary.”

Protection from Death

In 1978, a girl was saved from being murdered while praying the rosary. Ted Bundy murdered two girls on the January 15th of that year and when she was about to murder the third girl, he fled upon seeing her holding a rosary in his hands. When the serial killer was about to be executed, he asked for a priest . Fr. Esper who talked to him asked what happened during that night. He told the priest that ““some mysterious power prevented him” from murdering the girl. The girl said that it was her promise to her grandmother, to pray the rosary every night before she sleeps.

The Defeat of the Heretics

In the 1100s and 1200s in France, people’s minds were corrupted by the Albigensians who convinced Catholic to kill themselves so their souls would be separated from their bodies, which the Albigensians believed as evil. In 1214. St. Dominic received a rosary from the Blessed Mother to stop the Albigensians from their lies. St. Dominic did not only defeat them, but was also to convince many to pray the Holy Rosary and honor Jesus and Mary.

Freedom for Brazil

In the early 1960’s , Communism almost took over Brazil when Brazilian President Joao Goulart planned to implement it in the country. The people of Brazil did not want to give up their freedom. Cardinal de Barros Camara told them that they can prevent it by praying and doing penance.

Dona Amelia Bastos, a former school teacher gathered women in their neighborhood and started a group called Campaign of Women for Democracy that spread a message to many peacefully opposing Communism. Their prayer march and rosary rallies played a big role in ousting a communist in power. To show their gratitude, women of Brazil organized the “March of Thanksgiving to God” which was participated by millions of people praying out of gratitude for their freedom.

Nuclear blast exception

During WWII, 8 Jesuit priests were saved from the atomic bomb that destroyed Hiroshima. The priests were miraculously safe in their parish house which was just beside the church and establishments that were seriously destroyed after the explosion. Thousands died and suffered from exposure to radiation but it was inexplicable that none of them were affected. The Jesuits priests believed that they were saved from the nuclear blast because they have lived the message ofOur Lady of Fatima and that they have faithfully prayed the rosary everyday in their parish house.

The Fifteen Promises of the Virgin Mary to those who recite the Rosary

  1. Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall receive signal graces.
  2. I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the Rosary.
  3. The Rosary shall be a powerful armor against hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies.
  4. It will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of people from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
  5. The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall not perish.
  6. Whoever shall recite the Rosary devoutly, applying himself to the consideration of its Sacred Mysteries shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise him in His justice, he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just, he shall remain in the grace of God, and become worthy of eternal life.
  7. Whoever shall have a true devotion for the Rosary shall not die without the Sacraments of the Church.
  8. Those who are faithful to recite the Rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plentitude of His graces; at the moment of death they shall participate in the merits of the Saints in Paradise.
  9. I shall deliver from purgatory those who have been devoted to the Rosary.
  10. The faithful children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in Heaven.
  11. You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the Rosary.
  12. All those who propagate the Holy Rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.
  13. I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the Rosary shall have for intercessors the entire celestial court during their life and at the hour of death.
  14. All who recite the Rosary are my children, and brothers and sisters of my only Son, Jesus Christ.
  15. Devotion of my Rosary is a great sign of predestination.

These are real life stories of people – a priest, a child, and countrymen who kept their faith to the holy rosary and received the Virgin Mary’s promise from doing so.

If one’s faith can reveal the miracles of the rosary, what could the combined faith of the world do by praying the rosary together?
