Jubilee Vestment

SAN MATEO, Rizal — Another vestment was commissioned for the canonically crowned image of Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu for the opening of the Jubilee Door (Porta Sancta) in celebration of the 500 years of Christianity in the Philippines.

The vestment incorporates local leaves and flowers as the element of design, such as the Anahaw and Sampaguita, to highlight a Filipino motif for this great jubilee. The official logo of the event is also attached in the middle portion of her frontal dress. The combination of the colors Gold and White reflects the solemn and joyful celebration of the 500 years.

Being chosen as one of the Jubilee Churches is another milestone for Aranzazu Shrine. For this momentous occasion, an anonymous devotee of the Virgin of Aranzazu decided to offer and sponsor a new vestment.

A renowned embroiderer in Luman, Laguna produced the vestment according to the design and conceptualization of Architect Dave Axalan of the Cofradia.

The new vestment was first seen by the general public on April 17th during the opening ceremony of the Jubilee door attended by several priests of the Diocese of Antipolo.
