UPDATED as of March 27, 10 am. Rev. Fr. Lopito “Bembol” Hiteroza’s 32 years of priesthood on earth has ended as the former parish priest of Shrine of Aranzazu, passed away this Sunday, March 26.
Aside from being a parish priest, Fr. Bembol is also known as an author, who shared his thoughts and daily life updates on his own Facebook account, where he already shared his health condition and dialysis sessions.
Fr. Bembol served as Shrine of Aranzazu’s parish priest from 2018 to 2021, succeeding Fr. Larry. Although he seemed serious, Fr. Bembol was known to insert humor in between his wisdomful homilies, while citing the uncountable books he had read.
Though his stay at the parish was short, Fr. Bembol left impactful developments in the parish. In fact, the design of the current Jubilee Door in the parish was partly inspired by his knowledge and concepts. He also lead the parish’s participation in the Healing Rosary for the World during the pandemic.
Moreover, he made sure to improve the church facilities such Parish Rectory, Offices, Church Proper, as well as the establishment of the Aranzazu Columbary.
“Just want to thank the Lord God for the gift of life and love especially for sending me people who really care in spite of everything. The out- pouring of support and love really manifest the profound love of God. God is so good!” – Fr. Bembol posted on his 60th birthday.
His remains will stay at Shrine of Our Lady of Light in Cainta, Rizal until March 30, 2023. Requiem mass will be at 9:00 am.
