Shrine Ministry’s Cofradia and Fr. Ric Eguia striked a pose with Our Lady of Aranzazu in front of Daraga Church.
The Albay Provincial Government along with its Tourism, Culture and Arts office, invited the processional image of our town’s patroness — Nuestra Señora de Aranzazu to participate in their first Inang Magayon Marian Procession last May 1, 2024 from Sawangan Park Dapdap Legazpi City going to the Albay Cathedral in honor of the Albay’s patroness — Nuestra Señora de Salvacion de Joroan.
The Aranzazu delegation led by its Rector and Parish Priest Fr. Ric Eguia joined the Shrine Ministry for the first time to accompany the image in the said procession and departed from San Mateo last April 30. The group travelled for almost 16 hours going to Legazpi, Albay.
The Cofradia team supervised the transportation of the image and the arrangement of the carroza in Dapdap covered court immediately upon arrival in Legazpi, City on May 1. A concelebrated mass was held at the Sawangan Park before the procession begun where thousands of Bicolanos attended.
A Grand Marian procession followed right after the mass traversing the streets of Old Albay featuring around 40 various Marian images from all over the Bicol region, Manila, Cavite, and other provinces. The delegates stayed for another night at the Governor’s rest house.
The following day, the delegates visited the tall monument of Our Lady of Salvation at Rawis Albay, the Virgin of Aranzazu also paid a short visit at the historic church of Virgen de Porteria in Daraga Church where the image of our Patroness stayed at the main altar, and the famous Cagsawa ruin with the magnificent view of the Mayon volcano.
The delegates made its final itinerary at the Basilica of Peñafrancia in Naga City, Camarines Sur to hand over the image to participate in the Marian Exhibition from May 3-10 before the awaited Marian Procession of Naga on May 11.
