My Lord, with every granting of Thy grace<\/p>\n
I lift up towards Thee both arms and face.<\/p>\n
Undeserving as I am of these Thy gift<\/p>\n
They yet provide my yearned for uplift.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
As a mere child at the receiving end<\/p>\n
Of benefactions that Thou dost extend,<\/p>\n
I must now grope for fitting words of thanks<\/p>\n
And come up merely with pages of blanks.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
For Thy goodness Lord God dwarfs my response<\/p>\n
And underlines the distance<\/p>\n
That sinful creature stark in some way sense<\/p>\n
Between what we deserve and providence.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I realise it is but pride\u2019s own ploy<\/p>\n
To keep me unreceptive to Thy joy<\/p>\n
And make me truant in this stewardship<\/p>\n
That through my careless angers I\u2019ve let slip.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I vow henceforth, aware now of Thy love,<\/p>\n
To see Thy bounty as my treasure – trove.<\/p>\n
