They have waited till marriage and are speaking to the camera on the day of their wedding. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The man is ecstatic and overwhelmed with joy as he explains while choking back tears, \u201cFor us it\u2019s been an interesting \u00a0journey and a difficult journey, to wait for marriage, but we\u2019ve seen it as a really important thing and we can\u2019t wait to be united at the altar in mind, body, &amp; soul.\u201d He goes on to say:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span>\u201cWe\u2019ve never had sex before and we really want to encourage people that it\u2019s worth the wait\u2026 and I KNOW it\u2019s difficult, but you deserve it. There\u2019s something special in what our Church has, there\u2019s something special in the gift of the sacrament of marriage\u2026 and you don\u2019t want to miss that gift.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This is one of the hardest teachings for many people to follow, the teaching of chastity and abstinence before marriage. With so much sensuality in our culture it is easy to believe that<strong> there is no point in waiting because nobody does, but as we see today, that is a lie<\/strong>. People do wait, and they seem to be happy about it. No one is lying about chastity being easy, but they are insisting that it is good and healthy, and most of all, indescribably joyful.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/c0JrAbqOVIY?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span>As a young man I understand fully how\u00a0difficult\u00a0it is to be chaste, especially when it seems as though you are just saying no to something. \u201cJust say no\u201d, \u201cwait\u201d, \u201chold off\u201d, \u201cdon\u2019t do it\u201d, \u201cabstain\u201d, are all frequent phrases used by parents, youth ministers, adults\u2026 Why does this lack the ability to fill our minds and bodies with conviction and\u00a0perseverance? Well, I stated the influence of peers and culture, but really, in and of itself, the common message of chastity is bland and doesn\u2019t seem realistic. Who would believe that all those <strong>desires for connection, our longings for intimacy, \u00a0acceptance, and our curiosity of the unknown, <\/strong>could be repressed by sheer will because maybe 3% of our influences say it is good for us? I am not trying to sound negative, I really just want to be realistic here, because despite the general truth of what I\u2019ve written above, I think there is a solution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>And no, the solution isn\u2019t sex. The solution is to accept the reality of how difficult being chaste and pure is, and the beauty of the sacrifice, BUT\u2026 to not stop there. <strong>We have to go on to sing the glory of what we are saying YES to by not having sex before marriage.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Instead of \u201cwaiting to have sex\u201d, how about, relishing in the purity of our hearts?! Instead of mindlessly repeating the mantra of, \u201cjust say no.\u201d, to all of our brothers and sister, let\u2019s vigorously shout the mantra of, \u201cJust say YES to love!\u201d For every \u201cno\u201d the church may\u00a0endorse, there is AT LEAST one infinitely greater YES within it, and it\u2019s time we focus on that.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Just forget completely about telling our youth and even our 30 somethings who think it\u2019s too late for purity, to, \u201crefrain\u201d, and instead re-educate\u00a0the world on true love and insist on participation. THIS is a message that can be followed. This is a request that can be fulfilled. Only when life is thriving in our hearts do we have the strength to protect that life. Participate in life, defend beauty and purity, uphold dignity and honor, and cherish our<strong>innocence! <\/strong>That is what we are doing when we \u201cwait\u201d and how beautiful is that?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u00a0\u201cChastity is a difficult, long term matter; one must wait patiently for it to bear fruit, for the happiness of loving kindness which it must bring.
