Francisco Mendoza De Leon D.D., Bishop of Antipolo will visit the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Aranzazu on Friday, August 9, 2019.<\/p>\n

At 8:00AM, church bells will be rung upon the arrival of Bp. Francisco, accompanied by his delegation towards the altar. This will be followed by the Eucharistic Celebration or Thanksgiving Mass at 8:30 where he is also expected to bless the areas of the Parish.<\/p>\n

After the mass, Bishop Francisco will visit the Parish Office where he will sign the Canonical Books prepared by the Vicar Forane. Different offices and facilities within the Parish will also be checked.<\/p>\n

A conference involving the Bishop and the parish priest, assistant, and pastoral council will follow. The forum will revolve around the Vision-Mission of the Diocese and the Updated\u00a0decrees of the 1993 Synod.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If time permits, a short trip to the Himlayang Katoliko cemetery will be one of the last things scheduled for the Bishop’s Pastoral Visit.<\/p>\n

To conclude the event, the Bishop will enter the Diocese in his regular guise and will offer a prayer before the altar.<\/p>\n

Under the Canon Law 396.1, the Pastoral Visit is an obligation for bishops to visit diocese and become acquainted with the parish community — priests, deacons, youth ministers, lay people, organizations, and even commoners.<\/p>\n

Canon Law 396.1 states that: “A bishop is obliged to visit the diocese annually either in whole or in part, so that he visits the entire diocese at least every five years either personally or, if he has been legitimately impeded, through the coadjutor bishop, an auxiliary, vicar general, episcopal vicar, or another presbyter.”<\/p>\n

<\/em>The visit also aims that the Bishop becomes acquainted with the reality of environment and condition of the people, current pastoral programs and overall functioning of the parish. And to encourage hope to those involved in pastoral work and to all people in the parish.<\/p>\n

Most Reverend Francisco M. De Leon, DD is the fourth and current Bishop of the Diocese of Antipolo. He was first appointed as Auxiliary Bishop back in 2007, and later on took the position of\u00a0Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Kalookan for two years. On September 9, 2016, Bishop Francis formally succeeded Bishop Gabriel Reyes as the new Bishop of Antipolo.<\/p>\n
