Ito ay ang pinaka matandang pananampalataya ng mga Filipino. Ang orihinal at pinaka matandang imahe ng Santo Ni\u00f1o ay matatagpuan sa Cebu kung saan nakatayo ang unang simbahan sa Pilipinas.<\/p>\n<p>Ang imahe ng Santo Ni\u00f1o de Cebu ay iniregalo ni Ferdinand Magellan kay Rajah Humabon, ang dating pinuno ng Cebu. Ito ay isa sa regalo sa kanilang pagpapabinyag sa Katolisismo.<\/p>\n<p>Ang orihinal na kapistahan ng Santo Ni\u00f1o de Cebu ay tuwing Abril 28. Ngunit ito ay ipinalipat ni Papa Inocencio XIII noong 18th\u00a0century upang maiwasan ang salungatan sa pagdiriwang ng \u201cEaster season\u201d. Itinakda niya na sa ikatlong linggo ng Enero ipagdiriwang ang kapistahan, kasunod ng pistang sinulog. Noong\u00a0 1965 naman ay ginawaran ni Papa Pablo VI ng Koronasyong Kanonikal at idineklara niya rin itong isang \u201cBasilica\u201d. Sinabi rin niya na ang Basilica Minore del Santo Ni\u00f1o de Cebu ay ang simbolo ng pagsilang at paglaki ng Kristiyanismo sa Pilipinas.<\/p>\n<p>Hindi na bago sa atin ang pananampalatay kay Santo Ni\u00f1o. Taon-taon ay pinagdiriwang natin ito sa pamamagitan ng banal na misa at parada.<\/p>\n<p>Ibang-iba ang pagdiriwang natin ngayong taon sa kapistahan ng Santo Ni\u00f1o. Walang parada, mga ingay at walang mga imahen na iniikot sa ating bayan. Kundi ipagdiriwang natin ito ngayon sa pamamagitan ng misa.<\/p>\n<p>Ngunit tandaan natin na ang pagdiriwang natin ng kapistahang ito ay hindi lamang dahil sa parada at mga ingay. Ang pagdiriwang natin ngayon ay tanda ng matandang pananampalataya ng mga Pilipino sa Panginoon.
