Now it’s time to showcase your creativity by showing us your best digital video creations.

About The Contest

Dubbed as “Si Maria Sa Harap Ng Kamera!” This first Pocket Film Contest is Media and Public Information Minitry’s first-ever online short film competition, which is a church-based, aimed to discover and hone amateur content creators for Digital platform. It also seeks to provide a venue for learning and collaboration among the liturgical videographer experts, the notable media creators and directors, and the young storytellers of this generation.

Let’s turn your creative dreams into reality!

PREPARE VIDEO

Form a group or stay as a solo participant. Your digital video should be: original, shot on any “pocket” digital devices, 2-3 minutes long, has English subtitles, and must be presented under one of the genres that may fit the working theme of the contest.

REGISTER

Prove that you are not a robot. Register first and submit pertinent details that determine of your “humanness”. You should be an amateur digital content creator who is at least 16 years old.

SUBMIT

We will email back instructions on how and where to upload your video files.

Kindly make sure that your video hasn’t won in any previous contest or entered in a similar competition as with Short Film Contests during its cycle.

Preliminary Screening Team

Our special screening committee, composed of some of multimedia personalities, a seasonal writers, an author and with careers on film and tv production will review your submissions. Ten (10) hopefuls will be selected to qualify for the final screening.

E. Coverage: Exclusively for Participants living in Rodriguez and San Mateo, Rizal in the Philippines

F. Who can join:

  • The promo is open to amateur digital content creators, 16 years old and above, of any nationality.
  • DPSNSDA Media will have the right to post the videos on its website and other social media accounts, to further publicize the promotion.
  • The participant grants the right to DSPNSDA Media to use their video entries on promotional materials related to the campaign on print, on ground and online.

 

G. MechanicsHow to Join
Primary Phase – Entry Submission : August 1, 2018 to September 3, 2018 (2400H Manila Date/Time)

  1. Participants must register first and an official link will be sent thru the registered email for uploading the video file that will serve as the participant entry to the contest.
  2. Participants must fill out their details on the submit form which includes:
    1. First Name
    2. Last Name
    3. E-mail
    4. Birthday
    5. Home Address
    6. Mobile Number
    7. Genre of film
    8. Film Title
    9. Brief Synopsis
  3. The participant must submit a video that is STRICTLY two-three minutes (2 – 3 minutes) long, that tells a story and subtitled in English, shot on any devicewith a brief synopsis (not more than 700 characters) and a unique hashtag with a 20 character limit. The video file must be uploaded through the submission page. The submission should not have won in a contest or cannot be entered into another contest within the contest period.
  4. A Participant may submit a maximum of two (2) Video entries.
  5. The Participant must be the authorized account holder of the email address used to submit the Video Entry. The said email will be receiving official notice and communications will be coursed through the said email account.
  6. The video entry must be in any one of the following video formats: MP4, AVI, MOV, WMV, with a 16:9 aspect ratio.
  7. The video entry cannot exceed the 500 MB (megabytes) file size.
  8. Videos must not be a documentary-type of video presentation; can be narrative but explicitly will focus on the discipline of film production.
  9. The Video Entry must not have won any major or special award in any other contest. The same Video Entry cannot be entered into any other contest for the duration of the Project Period.
  10. A Video Entry that includes copyrighted material, trademark, music, or other intellectual properties owned by third parties will not be accepted, except if the Participant possesses the required consents, licenses and permits from the owners of the intellectual properties, and such inclusions do not constitute infringement or fraud.  The Participant must be prepared to provide a “Release” form.
  11. The Video Entry, in its entirety, must be a single work of original material personally taken by the Participant. By entering the Contest, Participant represents, acknowledges, and warrants that: (a) the Video Entry is an original work created solely by the Participant; (b) that the Video Entry does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity; and (c) that no other party has any right, title, claim, or interest in the Video Entry.
  12. The Video Entry shall not, in the sole and unfettered discretion of DSPNSDA Media, contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, violent, libelous, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content.
  13. DSPNSDA Media, through email account mediaministry@aranzazushrine.ph, will send a direct message to the Participant’s Email Account to secure the Participant’s consent to publish the Video Entry on the DSPNSDA Website, and to confirm the following warranties and representations of the Participant:
    1. That the Participant has read, understood and agrees to abide by the Official Rules of the Contest.
    2. That the Participant is at least sixteen (16) years of age as of the start date of the Contest period.
    3. That the Participant is not a professional filmmaker.
    4. That the Participant is the sole author and owner of the Video Entry, copyright thereon and of all rights therein; that there exists no adverse claim to or in the Video Entry; that neither the Video Entry nor any part thereof is a copy of any other work; that neither the Video Entry nor any part thereof infringes upon the copyright or any other rights of any person, firm or corporation anywhere in the world, or upon the privacy of another person or entity.
    5. That the Participant has secured, and that any subject contained in the Video Entry has given his/her express consent and authorization for the use, submission, reproduction and circulation of the Video Entry.  Should the Video Entry include copyrighted material, trademark, music or other intellectual properties, the Participant warrants that Participant possesses the required consents, licenses and permits from the owners of the intellectual properties.
  14. DSPNSDA Media will not publish the Video Entry without confirmation, acknowledgement, by the Participant in the Participant’s Email Account that the Participant is allowing DSPNSDA Media to publish the Video Entry, and/or that the Participant has secured the consent or authorization of any subject/s contained or featured in the Video Entry, to publish the Video Entry, online, on DSPNSDA website and social media accounts.
  15. The Participant shall be solely responsible for securing any necessary permits, consents, leaves or any other permissions or authorizations, including costs, in the Philippines and/or the Participant’s country of nationality or residency, as may be necessary for the Participant to enter into and fully participate in the Contest up to its conclusion.
  16. Scoring material should be an original or from the public domain.
  17. Maximum of two submissions per individual and/or group (in case it’s a group effort, a designated representative for that group will officially be the one Star Magic will be coordinating with throughout the process).

 

Secondary Phase – Top 10 Shortlisted Entries

  1. A preliminary screening team will select Ten (10) shortlisted entries.

  4. Time for judging of top ten (10) shortlisted entries will span from September 3, 2018 to September 5, 2018, in the presence of DSPNSDA PPC ExeCom Representative at Bahay-Pari, DSPNSDA Convent, San Mateo, Rizal.
  5. The Top Ten (10) shortlisted entries will be announced on September 6, 2018 and will be published on all social media platforms and websites of DSPNSDA.
  6. The Top Ten (10) shortlisted entries will be published with instructions on how to vote online.

 

Third Phase – Top 3 Winning Entries

  1. From the top 10 video entries, top three (3) winning entries which garnered the highest scores based on the criteria will be chosen.

    • Users will each have 3 consumable votes each day to vote for their 3 choices

  5. For online voting, users will be given three (3) consumable votes per day for their three (3) choices, each getting the same amount of points. Users may opt to only vote for only one or two entries, but users are not allowed to allot all three points to one video only.
  6. Online voting period will start on September 6, 2018 (0600H Manila date/time) and will end on September 13, 2018 (2400H Manila date/time)
  7. Voting process will go as follows:
    1. Log-in on this website.
    2. Watch the video and click on the “vote now” button. Users may vote for up to three (3) videos a day.
    3. Users may opt to share the video on their social media accounts so their family and friends may vote as well.
  8. The Top Three (3) winning entries will be determined on September 15, 2018 in the presence of DSPNSDA PPC ExeCom Representatives at Bahay-Pari, DSPNSDA Convent, San Mateo, Rizal.
  9. The Top Three (3) winning entries will be announced publicly on the Parish Event on September 22, 2018.
  10. The Top Three (3) produced short films will be published in the DSPNSDA Website and Social Media Accounts.
  11. Decisions of the judges and the final scores on the Top Three (3) are final and binding and not subject to dispute or appeal.

 

H. Cut-off for Entries: August 18, 2018 (2400H Manila Date/Time)

E. Notification of Winners:

  • DSPNSDA Media will notify the top ten (10) shortlisted entries and top three (3) winning entries through verified e-mail account, Facebook message, and telephone call.
  • The top ten (10) shortlisted will receive Certificates of Appreciation. Participants will have the opportunity to join the Parish Media and Public Information Ministry (MPIM) and be mentored by well-known Media Practitioners and to work with the MPIM.
  • The top three (3) winning entries will receive Certificates of Appreciation and cash amounting to Php10,000.00 in total. Participants will also have the opportunity to join the Parish Media and Public Information Ministry (MPIM) and be included on the prestigious CBCP’s Catholic Social Media Awards 2018.

 Terms and Conditions

  1. Participants represent and warrant that they have read, understood and agreed to abide by its complete rules and regulations.
  2. Participants will retain copyright and ownership of their entries after the holding period of three months (3 months) “Exclusive period”, for the top 10 shortlisted videos. However, by submitting their photos, participants hereby agree to grant DSPNSDA Media an exclusive, royalty-free license to use the same.
  3. DSPNSDA Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) reserve the right to block, remove, or disqualify communications or materials that it determines to be (a) abusive, defamatory, or obscene, (b) fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading, (c) in violation of a copyright, trademark or other intellectual property right of another or (d) violates any law or regulation or (e) offensive or otherwise unacceptable to DSPNSDA at their sole discretion.
  4. DSPNSDA Media disclaims any liability for failure to receive or acknowledge entries arising from force majeure, including acts of God, fires, floods, wars or other disturbances, labor unrest, or other causes beyond its control with the concurrence of DSPNSDA PPC.
  5. DSPNSDA shall be free from responsibility in case of injury, accident or death by bearer of the prizes and/or companion during the trip/claiming/experiencing the prize.
  6. DSPNSDA Media shall be the exclusive owner and shall have all rights and control over the ten (10) shortlisted video entries during the exclusive period starting from the publishing date of the shortlisted entries.
  7. For the Top Three (3) produced videos, DSPNSDA PPC and Media Ministry shall have complete, perpetual, and unconditional title in and to the produced videos and any and all interest or title the participant may have in the produced videos for a period of one (1) year starting from the publishing date. After which, the rights will change into a 70-30 (DSPNSDA Media – Creator) interest or title to the videos.
