Our humanities today in global context are facing serious large-scale wars and religious conflicts that make people vulnerable to raise awareness for a peaceful community one day. In the Philippines, the hostilities in Marawi City, Mindanao have gone military forces fight a longtime battle with rebels who aim to convert Marawi to ISIS center. Terroristic and irreligious actions were reinforced rather than eradicated that shows disrespect to all thousands of Muslims and Christians civilians.

One Catholic movement run by interreligious people composed of Catholics mostly from Charismatic groups, Muslims, Prostestants, and Evangelicals believe that prayer of unity can change our current situation. The prayer is said to take only for a minute of time and when more than one person on earth agree to pray for peace and unity, it will be granted by God in heaven.

Pasa Lord Prayer Movement has appealed for prayers and nationwide participation for “Prayer for Peace in the Philippines”, an initiative to be held this afternoon July 7, 2017 at 12 noon. Filipinos are urged to gather and pray wherever they are and keep on praying until peace reigns in the country.

What-to-do:

  1. Wear any of the colors of the Philippine flag – red, blue, white or yellow shirt to signify love for the country, or the theme: “Pilipinas, Mahal Kita”.
  2. Clasp your hands with fingers intertwined placed over the heart on the left side of the chest symbolizing “you and me are united in our hearts as we pray for peace in our land”.

You can also make this your new 12 o’clock habit by: Setting your phone’s alarm to 12 noon. Downloading the prayer card to your cellphone and setting it as wallpaper; posting it near your desk; bringing it in school; office or anywhere with you. Here’s the prayer you can use later.

Everyone is encouraged to take a photo or selfie of their group praying together, hands over their hearts, and post it on Facebook with the hashtag #PasaLord as way of sharing and spreading it nationwide.

Together, when we speak our heartfelt intentions through prayer it evokes the way we want the world to be. As the group said in a statement, “Prayer of unity changes things, so we are asking all Filipinos to pray with us for peace in the land”.
