The spirit of Christmas is felt through giving love and making other people happy. This season is made even more special as we extend our love to our brothers and sisters who we don’t even personally know especially to those who need it the most.
The Rotary Club of San Mateo spread the love last December 7 through a Christmas gift-giving and feeding to more than 100 SPED learners of San Mateo Elementary School. The celebration was participated by Bro. Reggie Regis and Architect Jun Fetalvero who were both former presidents of the said club.
Bro. Reggie emphasized that special children require special attention and endless love. “Our hearts will always be touched when we see special children. Eyes that cannot see, lips that cannot talk, ears that cannot hear, and mind that could not comprehend but the true spirit of happiness can be seen on their smiles,” he added.
Bro. Reggie also said that happiness on the faces of these special children means a lot to their parents who are exerting more effort for their fragile sons and daughters while a simple act of love and care mean a lot more to these children. “Definitely, they will not recognize us but surely we will have a soft spot in their hearts because we are able to serve them in a moment of happiness and love,” Bro. Reggie said.
Generosity does not require recognition in return. Knowing that you made these little angels feel happy and loved is nothing but a priceless and meaningful reward.
The Rotary Club of San Mateo showed a good example of how we should spend our Christmas holiday. Christmas may be felt through beautifully decorated Christmas trees, colored garlands and Christmas lights but they are actually nothing. We should also build a manger in our hearts where Jesus will have a special place. Reggie Regis (Current DSPNSDA Music Ministry Coordinator)
