“Tayo ay hindi forever sa mundong ito.”

This was Rev. Fr. Gerard Joaquin V. Masangya’s main point on his homily today on the 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time.

The Gospel of Luke 20:27-38 speaks about the inquiry of some Sadducees to Jesus. Jesus tells us that in God, there’s eternal life and this can be experienced in Heaven. Everything we have today are just temporary, the fame, the money, the power and all other Earthly materials. Our real home is the Kingdom of God.

With this, Fr. Gerry further explained the Gospel through the existence of “Makabagong Saduseyo”. But, he first defined the word ‘Sadducees’. Sadducees are the people who don’t believe in the life after death. Today, Sadducees still exist and they are called “Mga Makabagong Saduseyo”. They are the ones who just enjoy their lives on their fame, luck, and influence without thinking of the life after death. They just think about enjoyment to the point that everything is limitless.

The Gospel wants us to do things with God, through God, and for God. What we do matters in the end for our main goal is to be with God in Heaven. We must not waste our time doing no good deeds for what we are today will be the basis of the particular judgement after our death. We must always be reminded of our mission here on Earth and that is to do good deeds and spread the love the Lord has given us.

Fr.
