We often perceive Fiesta as colourful because of the parade joined by the townspeople in bright and lively costumes, free kakanin, vibrant flowers, free concerts, aligned tiangges, and many more. But since we are experiencing a global crisis now, we cannot do any of it.
However, there are other ways to celebrate today’s event:
- Attend the online mass with the family
Pray the holy rosary before the online mass. Offer a prayer to Our Lady of Aranzazu.
- Be generous today
We can give a tip to the food and package delivery men or donate cash to the deserving students who are in need of money to support their online learning. We can support local products offered by our family, friends, and neighbours so that we can help one another financially. We can donate to organizations supporting the frontliners or those affected by the pandemic.
- Serve others
Serving others means serving the Lord. It doesn’t have to be in a form of money. Help your parents in doing household chores. Help your siblings in his/her online classes. Help a friend in her online business by promoting it. If you have a celebration at home, share your food with your neighbors or teach your middle-aged neighbour on how to do his online conference or class.
- Make good use of Social Media
Make kumustahan a habit. Call someone you haven’t talked to in a while and spread positive vibes. Make use of Social Media as a medium of evangelization. Share our Parish’s Daily Live Streams and many more.
- Put down your phone and spend time with your family
Reconnect. Take care of your siblings, godchild, or other members of the family. Spend time watching television programs with your parents. Share your talents and hobbies with your family.
- Reflect
Stop doing everything and focus on meditating. Find peace. Commemorate the time when Aranzazu was found years ago. Ask yourself what lead you to your devotion to Aranzazu? What’s the impact of Aranzazu in your life? How did Aranzazu strengthen you today in the middle of a pandemic?
The true essence of celebrating Fiesta lies within our hearts. No doubts. No hindrances. Let’s devote ourselves to Our Lady of Aranzazu to ask intercession of her Son, Jesus Christ. Viva La Virgen!
