Easter Sunday

For the second time, we celebrated the Holy Week in our very own homes, exactly the same as last year when churches, schools, recreation centers and malls were closed and only few essential establishments remained open in order to contain the spread of this deadly Covid-19 virus.

Sadly, this pandemic has stricken us fiercely this time. Just this Good Friday, we have hit the highest one-day tally with 15,310 cases. Our fears and anxieties seem to have resurrected like the previous year. With hesitation, I whispered to God, “Where do we go from here, Lord?  How are we going to get out of this uncertainty? It has been so long. Are we going to walk also in the midst of darkness wandering for 40 years?”

But Isaiah 40:28 says, “Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.”

This day, Easter Sunday, the greatest miracle of all is the consolation for all our fears. Scary as it may seem, knowing that Christ, our Lord, has risen, our hope and dream of a life resurrected from this nightmare of battling the unseen enemy, give us hope, courage, faith, and assurance that this uncertainty shall also pass. That in all difficulties, we just have to learn the lessons… be molded by the experiences… and keep them in our hearts as God’s refining moments, for in the end, we will triumphantly rise like the Risen Lord.
